The Diakonia Litany: Intercessions for the Margins

Leader: Lord, have mercy.
Response: Christ, have mercy.

Leader: For all who are uprooted from their homelands, navigating dangerous borders, and searching for a safe place to land.
Response: O Lord, protect their steps and shield them from harm.

Leader: For vulnerable families, single parents, and children facing systemic displacement, isolation, or exploitation.
Response: O Lord, be their strong fortress and comfort.

Leader: For our low-income seniors, the unhoused, the disabled, and all those pushed to the extreme fringes of our communities.
Response: O Lord, restore their dignity and fulfill their needs.

Leader: For our bi-vocational worker-priests, non-ordained brothers and sisters, and field volunteers serving on the front lines of human trauma.
Response: O Lord, sustain them with Your rest and guard them from exhaustion.

Leader: That we may build structural sanctuaries of unconditional love, recognizing Your face in the marginalized, the refugee, and the ignored.
Response: Deliver us from indifference, O God of justice, and hear our prayer.

Leader: Holy Mary, Mother of the Displaced:
Response: Pray for us.

Leader: Saint Benedict, Guide of the Faithful Heart:
Response: Pray for us.

Leader: May the peace of the Lord, which surpasses all human understanding, keep our hearts and minds anchored in Christ Jesus.
Response: Amen.
